To compound this factor, said shots are also done in a seemingly lower frame-rate than the rest of the show, resulting in said scenes looking choppy. Combined with the CGI effects, this makes trying to follow exactly what’s going on in some of the action scenes incredibly annoying.

While this is slightly impressive on pure technical animation level, it is also completely ruinous thanks to it creating a scenario in which the viewer is taken out of the viewing experience. No, the real killer is the show’s fondness for long sweeping camera pans around scenes. And thanks to the how the CGI backgrounds, the characters look completely disconnected from the world they belong in, killing any sense of space and removing any sort of physical weight to their actions.Īnd yet, that’s only tip of the visual problems for this show. It’s usage of CGI for nearly everything element ranging from backgrounds to attack effects borders on being criminal and makes the show unpleasant to watch due to the amount of visual noise that’s going on. I’m actually pretty for the use of CGI in anime provided it’s done well.

HandShakers however, takes their visual flourishes far beyond simple filters and into the realm of trying to be stylish with CGI effect usage. GoHands have always been known for their own “unique” style of visuals, thanks to things such as the infamous blue filter they end up putting over all of their shows. So let’s dive into this dumpster fire, shall we? Indeed, HandShakers is a perfect example of how excess and overindulgence can utterly destroy a show on a visual level. I expected Studio GoHands’ next project to be bad, but I was frankly not prepared for the next level of terrible we’re dealing with here.
